Where the answers come from
Our server reads the public official homepage. Its page data contains the current puzzle date, number, artist and recent rewind entries. We check that the dates agree and match the current date in New York before marking today’s record as verified.
Hints use the artist attributes in the game’s publicly referenced data. We do not infer a display popularity rank from an internal number. If those attributes are unavailable, we can show a verified answer without inventing hints.
View the official source ↗Freshness, without guesswork
The server caches successful checks for up to two minutes and refreshes when the New York puzzle date changes. It checks again when you visit; the open page also requests periodic updates. This is automatic, request-driven refreshing, not a promise of an exact midnight update.
If the source fails, changes format or still returns yesterday’s puzzle, today’s answer is unavailable until it passes validation. Any previous record is labeled with its actual date. The official public page is not a guaranteed stable developer API.
Your choice to reveal
The interface keeps the artist hidden until you request it. Hints and recent-history answers are under your control. This protects normal reading from accidental spoilers; it is not a security barrier against inspecting page data.
A growing permanent archive
Successful source checks save the current puzzle and recent dates to our database. Checked historical answers can also extend the archive. Saved records remain available as new puzzles arrive. We store dated answers and recorded hints with timestamps; missing dates and unknown puzzle numbers are not invented. Visits and configured background checks use the same capture pipeline. A long period with no successful check can miss dates outside the source’s recent window. Only checked records enter the archive.
Privacy & storage
This app does not collect your game guesses. Hint and answer choices live in your current browser session. Saved puzzle records are kept in our permanent database. The site does not use third-party advertising or analytics. The hosting platform may use its own access and operational logs. Opening the official game takes you to a separate site.
